Service Description

This seminar will explore different concepts and principles of fighting and violence through the lens of a Filipino Martial Art. We will be talking about how stress, pressure, and threat activates our survival mode and how we might be able to install tools that will allow for sharper responses and situational awareness. The seminar will touch on our Fight, Flight, Freeze responses under a particular pressure or threat. Taught by Paul, who develops Fluid Tactics, a Filipino Martial Art deeply rooted in defence, self connection and awareness, and sound principles that push students to explore moments of discomfort. Emphasizing instinctive movement and quick responses to threats, this martial art serves as a powerful tool kit for empowering and equipping students to gain a sense of agency and personal protection. Fluid Tactics is an infusion of close ranged, reaction based Filipino Martial Arts, as well as Jeet Kune Do/kickboxing principles that incorporate the development of body attributes (speed, flexibility, mobility, strength, etc.) as well as an instinctive response to incoming danger. The art develops a heightened sense of awareness of the self and the environment to enable appropriate responses in uncomfortable situations. Fluid Tactics transcends mere physical training. It develops a protective mindset in the outside world. At the same time, it is a philosophical journey toward self mastery and a deeper understanding of our own behaviours and how to move with calmness under stress. The art is holistic by nature and installs seamless motion and instinctive reactions, exploring individual capabilities and mindsets to nurture a persons understanding and well-being. In the seminar, we will play with basic single stick concepts, some knife work, and barehand concepts.
